Eating kosher in Scandinavia is possible.

In Helsinki, Finland there is a kosher deli (Avi's Deli) in the center of town, next to the synagogue. Please see the link below for contact details, location, open hours etc. You will also find information on the Synagogue in Helsinki on this link:

If you like fish, then you will have no problem in Scandinavia, we highly recommend trying the delicious smoked salmon (hot or cold smoked), these can bought in most supermarkets and of course at the wonderful markets. We also have a list of kosher foods that can be purchased in the local supermarkets in Finland and Sweden, please e-mail us and we will send you the lists. srpront@gmail.com

Getting Around

In Scandinavia you can get almost anywhere using any of the below mentioned ways of public transportation.

Stockholm: You can travel throughout Stockholm county by bus, local train, subway (T-bana), and trams, going from Singö in the north to Nynäshamn in the south. The routes are divided into zones, and one ticket is valid for all types of public transportation in the same zone within 1 hour of the time the ticket is stamped. If you choose to take a taxi, make sure to ask the taxi driver the price upfront as there are many different taxi rates and taxi companies. We personally found that the 'Stockholm taxi' company had the best rates (for example, they have a flat rate of 390 SEK from Arlanda airport to Stockholm city center).

Helsinki: The trams are a popular method by which travelers get from one destination to another while seeing many of the major tourist attractions.  Busses, trains, ferries and the metro system are also all popular public transportation options.  Busses are the least expensive method of getting around and so are highly favored by tourists who are traveling around Helsinki on a budget.

Turku: Within Turku you have an efficient public transportation system. Buses and ferries will take you along and across the river which runs through the city. The no. 1 bus will take you from the port where your cruise ship will arrive into the city center.
